BEST Cruise Deals: Cheap & Discount Cruises 2024

cruise critic reviews

No matter the stateroom category, you'll sail in cabins that are modern and offer lots of storage space. It's an approach we'd love to see replicated across the industry. Popular cabins include Odyssey of the Seas balcony room and Junior Suite options. Its innovative method in designing spaces -- especially the wow-inducing Two70 venue -- feels new and contemporary.

By definition, small ships hold fewer than 1200 passengers, usually making the cruise experience more intimate with more individualized service.

Full Review: NCL Breakaway, December 4, 2022--A Detailed Review from Experienced Long-Term Cruisers by SthrnGary

My wife and I have gone on 25 + cruises over 43 years. As time has gone on, we have wanted more of our Cruising Experience. We started with the most inexpensive inside cabin during our honeymoon 43 years ago. Five years ago, we found the NCL Haven and loved it. The Haven Premium was a bit to much for us on this cruise so we did a Club Balcony Suite on this cruise. Two cruises ago, November 2021, we did the nicest Haven Cabin (The H2 Haven Deluxe Owners Suite) with our two (2) adult children.

These Meet & Mingle parties offer a chance to meet online friends in person. Cruise deals are your key to scoring a perfect vacation at sea without breaking your budget. Whether you're looking for a last-minute deal, discounts on a luxury cruise or family-friendly cruise deal, or extra onboard credit, finding real deals on cruises can take a lot of work. Cruise lines and travel agents offer a huge variety of confusing extras -- some that are an amazing value and others that aren't. Despite the Odyssey of the Seas size, which is large, great care has been taken to ensure passenger flow doesn't feel congested. With so many spots to enjoy onboard – including a huge pool deck – guests tend to find their favorites and stick with them.

@rjm11 I was on the cruise and someone not on the cruise, on CruiseCritic.com said the ship was going to tender at two ports. I was not happy because tendering is so uncomfortable. The fact was, the ship docked at every port and the person who said that was incorrect. We are on this same cruise in April- and two were initially listed that way, but our booking confirmation states "docked"- just curious what you did.

What I find is the only really good source is someone on the ship. It does not mean that your ship won't tender. NCL if any thing is very inconsistant at time. If folks have a better idea, I am all ears.

I tried about five times and go an error message each time to come back later.

Caribbean, from Port Canaveral (Orlando)

We also have had some so so experiences  with Cagneys in the past. Was disappointed as well with both the prime rib and the ribeye. On our cruise last month wife and I both decided to order the filet. Best meal we have ever had at Cagneys. We will be on the Breakaway in a couple of weeks and are looking really forward to it. We love O’Sheehan wings, and thanks for the advice on booking the shows once you get on board.

Anything that makes boarding or getting off easier. We won't be sailing until March, but I will definitely post back here what happens. I thought it was two also but it did not work out that way. Odyssey of the Seas is an action-packed ship designed for families, though adults will enjoy it just as much as the kids do.

With a huge variety of activities and venues, it will appeal to all sorts of tastes, whether you're seeking adventure or a bit of rejuvenation. Ride Bobsled Jamaica as fast as you can then cool off in the infinity pool overlooking the harbor and the ship.

Glad you had a good experience sailing out of NOLA. We have sailed from NOLA three times and have found it for the most part a disorganized mess. Good to hear they got it right on your cruise. The Royal Caribbean Odyssey of the Seas deck plan blends sophistication with fun. We love the elevated approach this ship takes to the cruise line's Royal Promenade, for example, creating a chic space that's a visual sensation, while still bringing on the excitement. "With world class entertainment, fabulous food and amazing service, we will be cruising again with Celebrity in the future."

Each of the picks in the luxury cruise category is a small ship. Cruise Critic is the leading cruise reviews site, which hosts the largest cruise community in the world. We thought the best entertainment on the ship was at Syd Norman's. The band that was playing there when we sailed a year ago was fantastic. The Fleetwood Mac Rumours set they did one night was superb. In regards to  Cagneys,  next time try the filet.

"The cruise itself was absolutely perfect. Nice weather, great excursions, beautiful scenery, nice ship and excellent staff." BTW….my favorite show on the ship (they were all very good) was the band in Syd Norman’s. And yes, you have to get there early (like an hour early) to get a seat.

Cruise Movie, 2018

And among the public spaces featured in the film is the ship’s signature FlowRider surf simulator. Just as “The Love Boat” is considered the quintessential cruise TV show, James Cameron’s 1997-blockbuster “Titanic” will probably be forever recognized as the most ubiquitous movie to depict an ocean liner. Or in Spanish, dubbed in English, is “High Seas,” another mystery series — think concealed Nazi gold and curious onboard deaths — set on a fictitious 1940s ocean liner inspired by the SS Normandie and Cunard’s Queen Mary. If you’re seeking “Lost” meets “Titanic,” Netflix’s singular season of the mysterious “1899” might just fit the bill. The fictional steamship Kerberos and its emigrant passengers get drawn into a Bermuda Triangle-esque, multilingual (German and English) period thriller.

The Poseidon Adventure

A varied group of passengers boarding a ship bound for pre-WWII Germany represents a microcosm of early 1930s society. After being fished out of the sea by a sailer, three fugitives find themselves prisoners of the ship's brutal skipper who refuses to put them ashore and they hatch an escape plan during a crew mutiny. As World War II begins, German freighter Captain Karl Ehrlich tries to get his ship back to Germany through a gauntlet of Allied warships.

McGlynn plays the piano, the French horn and the bagpipes - but can't match his grandfather's musicianship.

On a transatlantic crossing, The Marx Brothers get up to their usual antics and manage to annoy just about everyone on board the ship. Ajay's life turns upside down when he learns that his wife Piya has Alzheimer and he has no option, but to leave his wife in a mental hospital. A retired auto manufacturer and his wife take a long-planned European vacation only to find that they want very different things from life. During World War I, a German spy and a French spy meet and fall in love. Showgirls Lorelei Lee and Dorothy Shaw travel to Paris, pursued by a private detective hired by the suspicious father of Lorelei's fiancé, as well as a rich, enamored old man and many other doting admirers. In the 90 minutes it runs for, Cruise fails to provide the pleasure you'd expect from a feature of its production caliber.

Gio spends his nights hitting on local girls by cruising past them in his car, and that’s how he meets Francesca Russo (Emily Ratajkowski). She tells him she’s from Bay Ridge, and with her Roman nose and sensual lips, her pile of thick, dark curls, and her feminine stugots, she’s just the sort of guidette a guy like Gio was born to be with. She plays hard to get (but not too hard), and before long they’re grinding away in his front seat.

More than a dozen biographies have been written about him, including a recent one in Germany about Ernst, Hans and Hans' two sons, Christoph and Klaus. Christoph is the conductor emeritus of the Cleveland Symphony Orchestra; Klaus was the mayor of Hamburg, Germany. Ernst von Dohnanyi spent the last 11 years of his life in Tallahassee and is buried at Roselawn Cemetery.

Picking up eight Oscar nominations and directed by Stanley Kramer, Ship of Fools features a stellar ensemble cast including Vivien Leigh (in her final film role), Lee Marvin and George Segal. Let’s start with the best movies about cruise ships, from films from Hollywood’s Golden Age to a science fiction classic. Even more recently, 2020’s “Let Them All Talk” starred Meryl Streep on Cunard’s iconic modern ocean liner, Queen Mary 2. The show introduced a whole generation to cruising and thus goes down as one of the most pivotal influences on the then-fledgling industry. Siegel has directed one previous film, “Big Fan” (2009), a deadpan character study that deconstructed American sports mania, and as he demonstrated in that movie he’s got a rare classical feel for pace and structure. When Gio and Jessica find a stash of cocaine in a car they’ve broken into, it’s just the ticket to rev the film up into a true ’80s party movie (without making the ripping off of a drug dealer look any easier than it is).

And if you start to try and cheat those physics, which is what happens a lot of the time, then the simulation stuff all goes right out the window, and it breaks everything. Through a series of freak occurrences, a group of actors shooting a big-budget war movie are forced to become the soldiers they are portraying. Set in 1965, four rowdy teenage guys travel to Tijuana, Mexico for a night of partying when they are joined by a heartbroken housewife who is in town seeking a quick divorce. A motley crew of treasure hunters plan to rob the cruise-liner RMS Queen Mary, using a recovered WW2 German submarine. A ballet dancer and a showgirl fake a marriage for publicity purposes, then fall in love. An ordinary foundry worker fakes a love story between him and the chambermaid from RMS Titanic.

Not all of these cruise ship movies are masterpieces (although some are). In Frank's cabin, Lily finds his research on the Tears of the Moon, but Frank insists he stopped searching long ago. They are captured by cannibals that are actually the Puka Michuna tribe who work for Frank as part of his contrived jungle cruise adventure.

MovieMeter aims to be the largest, most complete movie archive with reviews and rankings, in the World. Our team of journalists delivers the latest news for movies and TV shows. Seabourn Legend was rented for six weeks to film the movies and its multiple filming locations were used including those in the USA, the Caribbean and France. Shot in glorious Technicolor and featuring a razor-sharp screenplay, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes is one of the best musical comedies set on the seven seas. While much of The Parent Trap takes place on land, there are some scenes set aboard Cunard’s now-retired Queen Elizabeth 2 (they were actually filmed on Queen Mary, which is docked in Long Beach, California). Hunting for lonely women with hefty bank balances, Charlie (Matthau) coaxes his widower brother-in-law Herb (Lemmon) into working with him as a dance host on an all-expenses-paid luxury cruise.

The career and life of Stanley Kubrick is explored through pictures, clips from his films, his old home movies, comments from his colleagues and a narration by Tom Cruise. Dagwood disguises himself as a drummer in the ship's conga band to sneak aboard a South American cruise ship. Charlie tries to discover the identity of a strangler who strikes multiple times on a cruise ship bound from Honolulu to California. For my money, Luc Besson’s The Fifth Element is up there with the best science fiction movies of all time.
